VDE-AR-N 4105 governs the connection of generation and storage installations to the low-voltage grid and is therefore the relevant technical connection rule for smaller installations such as residential storage and small commercial PV-plus-storage combinations. It sets out requirements including protective devices, reactive power behaviour, and notification to the network operator. For larger installations at medium, high, and extra-high voltage, VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120, and 4130 apply respectively.

VDE-AR-N 4105 regelt den Anschluss von Erzeugungsanlagen und Speichern an das Niederspannungsnetz und ist damit die für kleinere Anlagen, etwa Heimspeicher und kleine gewerbliche PV-Speicher-Kombinationen, maßgebliche technische Anschlussregel. Sie legt unter anderem Anforderungen an Schutzeinrichtungen, Blindleistungsverhalten und die Meldung an den Netzbetreiber fest. Für größere Anlagen an Mittel-, Hoch- und Höchstspannung gelten stattdessen VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120 beziehungsweise 4130.
