Common measurement principles are the shunt resistor, which produces a small, precisely known voltage proportional to current, and Hall-effect sensors, which measure the magnetic field generated by current flow without contact. Measurement error or drift in the current sensor accumulates over time in coulomb-based SoC estimation, requiring periodic recalibration against voltage-based reference points.

Gängige Messprinzipien sind der Shunt-Widerstand, der eine kleine, präzise bekannte Spannung proportional zum Strom erzeugt, sowie Hall-Sensoren, die berührungslos das durch den Stromfluss erzeugte Magnetfeld messen.
