HVIL is a low-voltage signal loop routed through all high-voltage connectors of a vehicle or system, monitoring their correct, fully seated connection. If a high-voltage connector is disconnected or damaged, this interrupts the HVIL loop, causing the BMS to open the main contactors and de-energize the high-voltage system before persons can come into contact with live parts.
