In depot charging, fleet vehicles, such as buses or distribution trucks, are charged during scheduled downtime at the depot, usually overnight at comparatively low charging power, since sufficient time is available. Compared with public fast-charging infrastructure, depot charging reduces the required connection capacity and enables a predictable charging strategy aligned with the operational load profile, but places corresponding demands on the depot's own grid connection capacity. For larger fleets, charging sequence is often controlled via a load management system to optimally distribute available connection capacity across all vehicles to be charged.
