CHAdeMO is a DC fast-charging standard developed by the eponymous Japanese industry association, using a round connector geometry distinct from CCS. It was particularly common in early electric vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf, but is increasingly being displaced by CCS Combo 2 in new European vehicle models. The successor standard, CHAdeMO 3.0, co-developed with Chinese partners as ChaoJi, targets substantially higher charging power and bidirectional applications such as V2G.
