Definition (EN)
The anode is the negative electrode of a lithium-ion cell and releases lithium ions into the electrolyte on discharge, which migrate to the cathode; on charging, the process runs in reverse. In most of today's cells, the anode consists of graphite, increasingly blended with silicon to raise energy density. The SEI layer forms on the anode during initial formation, and under unfavourable charging conditions lithium plating can also occur there.

Die Anode ist die negative Elektrode einer Lithium-Ionen-Zelle und gibt beim Entladen Lithium-Ionen an den Elektrolyten ab, die zur Kathode wandern; beim Laden läuft der Prozess umgekehrt ab. In den meisten heutigen Zellen besteht die Anode aus Graphit, zunehmend mit einer Beimischung von Silizium zur Steigerung der Energiedichte. Auf der Anode bildet sich bei der ersten Formierung die SEI-Schicht, und bei ungünstigen Ladebedingungen kann sich dort auch Lithium-Plating ausbilden.
