A bidirectional charge point can both deliver energy to the vehicle and draw energy back from its battery, forming the technical prerequisite for V2G, V2H and V2B applications. Compared with a unidirectional charge point, additional requirements apply regarding power electronics, metering for energy export, and communication with both vehicle and network operator, typically via ISO 15118-20. Mass-market availability of bidirectional charge points remains limited as of today and is developing in parallel with the growing number of bidirectionally capable vehicles.
